CMJ stands for College Music Journal. They've been around for years, report of the most widely-quoted college charts. Every October they host a week-long festival in New York, similar to SXBW (South by Southwest) in Austin each year. Last year and this year NYU has been hosting all the panels, and in return we are allocated a couple of student band showcases. My program happens to have taken over one, and we also get free badges to access the festival. It's pretty ridiculously expensive otherwise. I think the "student discount" badge for others runs around $235.
