This morning has been interesting. I woke up early, like I tend to do after a night of drinking, and had like seven texts. I ignored most of them then went back to sleep. Then about half an hour ago I woke up again and decided to actually get up. While the internet was connecting (RCN sucks so much, the internet in this building is always going out) I grabbed some water and realized one of my suitemates was on the phone with her mom talking about jobs. She's a senior so this is her last semester and everyone is kinda freaking out with the job market.

Then I checked my e-mail and found this message:

Hey,
Put a few bucks in your A/C today. Take a look at this clip and let me know what you think; P5of7P. (and I'm not bribing you...)
Love you,
Dad

So that's cool. My dad was on TV. I didn't realize he'd meant that he was in the clip until the guy introduced him and I yelled "WOAH! It's my dad!"

And now, it's 62 degrees out so I'm going to wear something warm and FLIP FLOPS to the Neil Gaiman reading & signing that is occurring in about an hour.

Isn't it pretty?

I wonder how it'll look after I wash it and undo all the styling she did... :)

Also, I got a new MSI hoodie partially cuz my old one is starting to get holes, and partially because it's fucking awesome and I couldn't resist:

I worked from 4:55 to 9:06 today. Was supposed to get off at 8. Oh well, I get free food for still being in training. Also, that's really not that bad. Saturday will be fun though: 8:30 to 3. Until I interviewed at 9am I didn't even know Ruby's was open at 7am for breakfast. Here's to hoping I don't ever have to open. *fingers crossed* It's fun though. The girls I've trained with have been really nice and fun and easy to chat with when it gets slow. The bussers are learning that I speak some Spanish too so they keep testing my knowledge. I'm failing pretty hard, but I'll get better hopefully. It's fun though getting to laugh at some of the snide things they say that I do understand.

I get to learn how to make the delicious milkshakes on Sunday. I'm pretty excited for that. Especially because we unofficially get to eat the messups.

I'm also excited to see [livejournal.com profile] slfcllednowhere on Saturday!

Happy Independence Day! I hope you all get to shoot off lots of fireworks and maybe other things that go boom. Be safe and have fun.

Happy Solstice everyone! It's now officially summer (or will be at some point this evening, I forget the exact time of it).

Sadly, I was unable to go to the Fremont Solstice Parade this morning. I tried to convince people to come with me yesterday, as I didn't want to drive down and try to find parking all by myself, but nobody wanted to go. I could have gone with my parents too and taken the bus back as they went off to their Ratdog concert, but I didn't wake up in time. Oh well, perhaps next year I'll finally get to go.

Tonight I'm headed to Megan's house to play croquet and help Phatty, Derek and Max keep her company during her parents' BBQ. Then at least Phatty and I are headed to his family friend Donna's house. I've heard about her before (mainly because I'm Pagan and she's Wiccan and this excited Phatty when he found out) and she's hosting a Litha thing, so I'm excited to actually get to do something for the holiday. Then we're picking up Jeff and Tina when they get off work and...I'm not sure what from there. Raising hell? Possibly.

Something else I was thinking about recently: I've been catching some of the Late Night lineups recently, and I have to say...I really don't like Letterman OR Leno much. I'm also not big on Jimmy Kimmel. So the ones I wait up to see are Conan and Craig Ferguson. And even then, it's really only Craig Ferguson who can consistently make me crack up really really hard. Conan has bright moments, and I seem to have more occasion to watch him lately (TMBG playing, Erik impersonating him and getting called out of the audience, Ira Glass being a guest...) but Mr. Ferguson and his accent are the best.

Alan comes on Tuesday. Hopefully the only thing I'll have to do besides goof off around the area is that Ruby's orientation. Oh, right, uh yeah. I might be working at Ruby's in Redmond. Yay 1950s costumes!
My parents met 28 years ago today. It was a Friday that year too. My mom is away this weekend, so she left us strawberry shortcake fixings to enjoy. (Yeah, I'm not sure why exactly they celebrate it. But it's a fun fact to know and tell!)

I still love the fact that the first time my mom really took notice of my dad was when he wasn't actually there, but rather when people kept worrying about him in May at a party she was at with his frat because he'd been coming home from Portland when Mt. St. Helens blew up. And then they officially met at a party before a Grateful Dead concert. I've got pretty cool parents.

Hey Seattle kids! All two (I think) of you! Order pizza from Jet City starting sometime next week and you might get me delivering it. :)
