Jan. 20th, 2009

It's a weird day. I've been waiting and waiting for it since November, and now it's here and I can hardly believe it. I overslept, so I missed most of the festivities this morning and the moment itself, but I dressed hurriedly and bolted into my living room for the Address. Every time I hear that man speak I am in awe. I'm so glad that he seems to have brought back the art of oration. It's moving, and a great quality in a leader.

After the speech, I looked at my watch and squeaked. My class started at 12:30 and it takes about half an hour to get uptown to the building. His speech ended around 12:25. So, I was late to my first class of the semester. I figured this would happen, I wanted to see the speech too badly. Afterwards (Programming 2, luckily not taught by Keith, but instead by the lauded Bob Powers. It promises to be better than last semester.) I hurried back home. I just finished watching coverage, of the trek to the White House, and the parade. Took a shower, and now I'm waiting for about another half an hour before heading up to 11th Ave and W 52th St for the live taping of The Daily Show. I'm so excited. Hopefully this will fully cement that this is happening.

I suddenly don't feel so bad that my cousin arrived in Iraq the other day. If promises are kept, he should be home soon.

I'm so very glad that the slight fear I had of an assassination attempt hasn't manifested. My suitemate convinced me to be pretty sure that so long as he doesn't do anything to really anger those who were against him before this, he'll be fine.

I'll just finish my sweet tea and go grab Ryan, Jayme and Rachel so we can go.
