Friday night, I attended my first rave. I went with Laura and Phatty and Patrick. Pat has been to many before, Phatty has been to one, and Laura and I were first timers. Hanging out before they let the line start was pretty fun. We met this chick named Amy, whose raver name is Fitch. A little later we met this kid Pilot (real "name" Paco) who had these super ridiculous and awesome goggles that he'd made. They were green kiddie night vision goggles with glowstick and LED lights taped to them. We ended up hanging out with these kids all night, and at the end I was the only one who ended up giving Paco my number so he'd be able to contact us again in the future.
Saturday and Sunday were Apple Training sessions. These were fun, but I'm not allowed to talk about them. Basic training stuff really. But, partway through Sunday I get a text from Paco. He and Amy are coming into Seattle that evening, so I meet them after training and we hang out for a while. We met at Westlake, went to Seattle Center, then down to the water near Pioneer Square. Then we went to their friend's house near Queen Anne, where I shortly had to take my leave. Amy was tired so she stayed in the apartment, but Paco walked me to my car. He gave me a big hug and told me to make sure to hang out with them again soon. Then I un-parallel parked (I made Paco do it because it was a tight spot and I can't do distances. Damn my lack of depth perception.) and headed home.
Monday I worked at Ruby's. I'd mentioned what time I worked to Paco and Amy, and partway through my shift Paco shows up with one of the guys he works with (T-Mobile Tech Support, Tier 3). He tells me to call him when I get off and we can hang out. After he left it took me like ten minutes to stop shaking. I knew he was attractive but, damn. After work I called Laura, who I was supposed to hang out with, and ask if she'd mind if Paco joined us. She'd thought he was fun at the rave so said no problem. Paco came back to Redmond, and we left his car there while we went to Laura's house. Somehow we all ended up sitting in her kitchen talking about random shit. When Paco decides he needs to head back to his house (in Kent), I have to drive him back to his car. Somehow I get invited along, so I follow him down to his apartment in Kent and we hang out for a while. We were supposed to hang out with Amy, but she ended up canceling. We tried to watch The Italian Job, but got distracted. Then at like 1:30am we drive to this church Paco used to play piano at and go inside and goof around on the piano for a bit. Finally I decide I can't drive back up without falling asleep, so I spend the night.
The next morning Paco needs to be at work at 9, so we leave around 7:45 in order for me to drop him off in Kirkland. He swipes me in to show off his work, because they get to goof off a lot: pool table, air hockey table, mini arcade...pretty fun. When he has to start he kisses me and then I leave to go home and wait for my shift at Ruby's that evening. That evening he joins Phatty, Laura and I back at Laura's house to watch Se7en.
So, this is a bit of a dilemma. He's super cool, and I like him a lot for having met him not even a week ago. However, he's here. I'm going back to New York in about a month. What's the point?
Not so great news:
I'm not sure how it happened, but yesterday I managed to sleep from 1:30am to 5:15pm uninterrupted. That is completely ridiculous. However, it's also really really really not good. I was supposed to start my in-store training at the Apple store yesterday. From 9am to 6pm. I didn't even realize I'd woken up at 5:15pm until my dad got home at 6:30. I just rolled over after checking the clock and went "Oh good, I woke up early, I can snooze for an hour until my alarm goes off." I slept through my alarm clock and two phone calls with ease. So, I call my trainer who says "Can you call me at 9am tomorrow? We'll figure out a different day to start you then." So, luckily I haven't lost the job because of this freak 16 hour snooze. I called Paul again this morning, and I'm going to go in on Monday from 9am to 5pm, then head to Ruby's for my 5:30 shift.
My cat hasn't been doing so well. We took him to the vet a few weeks ago, and she prescribed this kidney medication for him. He was loving the treats we tucked the pills into, and seemed to perk up pretty well. Until last week. Now, he's stopped eating much, and doesn't drink unless you put him in front of the water dish, and has started refusing the treats with pills in them. He also has taken up residence on the carpet in front of my parents shower, and rarely moves from there. My dad called the vet yesterday, and I brought him in this morning before work. When I got off work, there was a voicemail from the vet telling me to call her. I returned the call, and she told me that the toxins in his blood have risen a lot. There are currently two options: We can either have him stay the weekend at the animal hospital on an IV to try to flush his system and give him nutrients, or we can put him to sleep. I said that since my parents would be paying for it and he lives with them, I'd have to talk to them about it before I could make a decision. She said to let her know what we decide whenever we can. So, I called my dad. He wasn't so happy with what it will cost to keep Mittens at the hospital over the weekend, but also said that he would bring him home to die because he doesn't seem to be in pain. Every once in a while his breathing will sound a little labored, but he doesn't appear to be in any pain. So, I don't know. I'm pretty upset, because Mittens is only 7, and I've had him since the 6th grade. He's crazy and not very cat-like really (doesn't hunt, doesn't meow...), but he's a total sweetie and loves to be around people.
There you have it. The strange ups and downs that have occurred this week.
